Film Director’s Statement – Ojaswwee Sharma
We are truly grateful to the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa, for being the first state body in India to invite Rabb Di Awaaz to a government-led program. In a journey that has spanned more than 650 days since the film’s release, this milestone holds immense significance for the makers of the film. It reflects the growing recognition of inclusive cinema and the Government of Goa’s inspiring commitment to fostering inclusion, accessibility and representation through the art.
The screening of Rabb Di Awaaz at the International Purple Fest 2025 reaffirms that inclusive cinema is not merely a niche interest but an essential part of India’s evolving societal and cultural narrative. By curating a space that brings together policymakers, educators, social change-makers, thought leaders, and members of the disability community, the opportunity for the film to screen at this year’s festival festival highlights how cinema can be both a mirror and be a catalyst for social change.
