“Rabb Di Awaaz” (English: ‘The Voice of God’) is India’s first multi-inclusive Hindi feature film, written and directed by National Award-winning director Ojaswwee Sharma. The film features [Karan] played by Abhinav Sharma as a radio jockey whose life is profoundly transformed through his connection with a contestant with blindness [Shiv] played by Shiv Kumar Sharma. The film was released both online (YouTube) and through screenings in Chandigarh, India on December 28, 2023. The film’s premiere marked a significant milestone in the history of Indian cinema, featuring back-to-back shows that welcomed audiences of all age groups and communities, including individuals with multiple disabilities. Since its launch, the film has garnered numerous accolades and achievements. To date, the film has achieved the remarkable feat of surpassing 200 screenings, all which have been held absolutely free of cost for public.

Rabb Di Awaaz has been successful in fostering dialogue, raising awareness for inclusivity; and promoting emotional and mental well being of the youth.

Step into the world of “Rabb Di Awaaz,” a film takes you on the heartfelt journey of RJ Karan as he navigates an existential crisis. The story takes a transformative turn when RJ Karan engages in an unexpected interview with Shiv a person with visual impairment, who is also referred to as a “Farishta” or divine messenger. This special guest’s presence on his show becomes a catalyst for change, offering Karan a fresh perspective on life’s challenges. DEVELOPMENT, PRODUCTION AND DIRECTION


The story of “Rabb Di Awaaz” started with a commitment to inclusivity and authenticity. The movie was made with careful planning and new approach. It showed empathy and self-discovery. From the initial script to the final editing in post-production, everything was designed to reflect the lived experiences of individuals with emotional challenges and disabilities and to create a transformative cinematic experience.

DEVELOPMENT The 1st draft of “Rabb Di Awaaz” was written in October 2018. The film was developed over years and the 2nd major draft was written in 2020. The screenplay with dialogues was finally locked for filming in July 2022.
Dialogues for Shiv Kumar Sharma’s sequences were written in Braille in August for accessibility and reading.
PRODUCTION The principal filming of “Rabb Di Awaaz” began in the first week of September 2022 in Chandigarh. The film was shot over multiple schedules finally completed in the first week of June 2023.
RELEASE The film released on Thursday December 28, 2023.
DISTRIBUTION On December 28, 2024, the film screened to 201 shows and was seen by more than 1 million viewers globally in all formats.

“Rabb Di Awaaz” is directed by the National Award Winning Filmmaker Ojaswwee Sharma.

Ojaswwee Sharma’s directorial style is distinguished by a strong dedication to equality, simplicity and telling stories that resonate with the common person, inclusivity and human rights. He has been known for his dedication in addressing significant social issues through his films. His films often explore significant social issues and “Rabb Di Awaaz” is no exception.

Sharma’s film “Rabb Di Awaaz” (2023) has been particularly notable for being India’s first multi-inclusive film which reflects his commitment to representing diverse perspectives and breaking barriers in the film industry. RELEASE


The premiere of Rabb Di Awaaz was organized in Chandigarh. After its premiere, the film in all formats was released through the online platform YouTube, and more than 200 free of cost film screenings with the support of social and educational organizations were held till its first anniversary on December 28, 2024 in auditoriums and through theatrical screenings, for ensuring outreach and accessibility.

SCREENINGS


Till December 31, 2024, the film has been screened in more than 200 venues including educational institutions, auditorium and film festivals. Notably, special screenings were organized for audiences with disabilities, such as those with visual and hearing impairments which further ensuring that the film was truly accessible to all. These screenings have been complemented by discussions on inclusive media, inclusive education and Inclusive India.

The screening schedule for “Rabb Di Awaaz” features various venues including schools for visually and hearing impaired, colleges, universities, non-governmental organizations and other institutions across India. Each screening is tailored to accommodate specific audience needs and includes interactive sessions for deeper engagement. The details of screenings along its venue are given below in a Table-1
