Pride Month special Film – Admitted


The announcement of ‘Admitted’ in 2018 and launch in 2020 has been a huge milestone in spreading the word for diversity in Indian education. For this Pride Month, we hope that people continue to embrace the beauty of diverse mindsets, cultures and genders and grow together as a nurturing society that is conducive for equal education and equal opportunities for all.

Pinaka Mediaworks, believes in inclusion of diversity at workplaces as well as personal lives. We have always believed gender, cultural and ethnic diversities to be the source of innovation and to be the factors that introduce the extra in the ‘ordinary’.

About The Film:

Admitted, an Indian Feature Documentary, explores the biggest case of Transgender Education in a mainstream public university of North India where the first public washroom for transgenders was installed. It discusses the developments for Transgender Rights and Education and their acceptance to mainstream education and society within the Union Territory of Chandigarh, before and after the historic judgement of 2014 of adding the 3rd Gender in India (National Legal Services Authority v. Union of India).

The 1 hour 58 minute film narrative documentary, is the biography of Mx. Dhananjay Chauhan, the 1st Transgender Student of Panjab University, Chandigarh. It showcases her life journey of transformation into a transwoman with an emphasis on education along with gender identification, along with her dilemmas and expression in personal life to strive for education and upliftment of the transgender community in India.

Admitted is directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Ojaswwee Sharma.
