National Award-Winning Film director Ojaswwee Sharma received the Best Director Award and the Best Music Album Award for Muntazir at the 12th Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) 2026. He received the award at the festival’s closing ceremony held at Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on 4th February 2026.

Recipient of the Rajat Kamal at the 68th National Film Awards, Ojaswwee Sharma continues to work on new genres through work that blends artistic depth with cultural sensitivity. The latest award-winning project, Muntazir, is a soulful exploration of Urdu poetry and music, penned and narrated by Jatin Salwan, brought to life through evocative visuals and lyrical storytelling. It is based on the book “Muntazir” written by Jatin Salwan, which received strong praise for its unique depiction, including editing, cinematography, and music.

Muntazir was officially selected and screened on 3rd February 2026 at Miraj Cinemas, Bluecity Mall, Jodhpur, as part of RIFF 2026 Official Selections. The musical’s depiction reflects Sharma’s nuanced directorial approach, weaving themes of longing, emotion, and introspection through poetic narration and original music.

The film is produced by MasterShot Pictures, Rolling Frames Entertainment, Pinaka Mediaworks, Renuka Salwan, and Ojaswwee Sharma, and features Jatin Salwan and Sanvi Sharma, with music by Navjot Siaan. Under Ojaswwee Sharma’s direction, the performances and music came together as a cohesive artistic expression rooted in the tradition of Urdu verse.

At RIFF 2026, two films directed by Ojaswwee Sharma were officially selected for screening, reaffirming his consistent presence at the festival. His recent work, Rabb Di Awaaz has also been recognised by the United Nations in India, further strengthening his reputation as a filmmaker committed to meaningful and socially conscious storytelling.
The Best Director award for Muntazir reinforces his role as a filmmaker who uses cinema as a powerful medium for cultural expression and human connection.
