CHANDIGARH, February 23, 2026 | Monday – The Sikhlens India Art & Film Festival is honored to announce the arrival of legendary Olympic field hockey player Kuldip Singh Bhogal—affectionately known to many as “Deepi”—in Chandigarh.

A historic figure in the sporting world, Kuldip Singh Bhogal “Deepi” represented Uganda at the 1972 Munich Olympics. His distinguished career subsequently saw him transition into a celebrated coaching role, leading the American and Canadian national hockey teams, as well as the British Airways team. Now based in the United Kingdom, Deepi has traveled to Chandigarh to headline the 7th edition in India for the Sikhlens: Sikh Arts & Film Festival, taking place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Tagore Theatre.

Earlier today, Kuldip Singh Bhogal “Deepi” met with members of the press and the patrons of Sikhlens in India to share insights into his remarkable journey. The highlight of his visit is the public launch of his autobiography, The Legend of 1972: Life, Hockey, and Beyond.

He shared captivating stories and personal insights from his remarkable journey, and to the delight of those present, he signed exclusive copies of his new autobiography, “The Legend of 1972: Life, Hockey, and Beyond” for his fans.

Published under the Sikhlens Publications imprint, the book serves as a poignant, factual account of a life spanning multiple continents. It is a masterful amalgamation of human spirit, sporting excellence, and global humanitarian connection, offering an inspiring feat of storytelling.
The Legend of 1972: Life, Hockey, and Beyond will be officially available for readers at the Sikhlens India Art & Film Festival on February 28.
