Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, a pioneering rehabilitation Centre that has transformed the lives of over 1,000 individuals through holistic care, training, and empowerment over the past decade, has launched a public appeal to support its expansion into a larger facility.
The announcement was made by National Award-winning film director and Goodwill Ambassador of Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, Mr. Ojaswwee Sharma, who made a heartfelt call for the public to come together and support the Centre’s growing needs.
The initiative seeks to raise awareness about the life-changing work being done for people living with spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke, and to encourage community participation in the next phase of the Centre’s growth.
A Decade of Transforming Lives
Established in 2016 under the leadership of Nicky P. Kaur, Chandigarh Spinal Rehab has emerged as India’s leading independent Centre for neuro-rehabilitation, serving as a lifeline for people whose lives have been altered by paralysis or neurological trauma.
The Centre provides comprehensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing care, mental health support, vocational training, and peer mentorship under one roof — empowering survivors to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.
Over the years, the Centre has successfully rehabilitated more than 850+ individuals through residential programmes and impacted over 17,500 lives through its outreach, awareness, and sports inclusion initiatives. Many beneficiaries (80.4%) have gone on to live independent, purpose-driven lives — becoming entrepreneurs, athletes, and advocates for disability inclusion.
Global Recognition
In 2025, Chandigarh Spinal Rehab achieved a significant milestone by becoming a member of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Disability Health Equity Network (DHEN). This recognition places the Centre among a select group of global organisations working collaboratively to advance health equity, inclusion, and leadership for persons with disabilities.
Through this network, Chandigarh Spinal Rehab continues to strengthen its advocacy for accessible healthcare and policy inclusion for people with disabilities, positioning India as a leader in disability rehabilitation and empowerment.
A Call for Collective Compassion
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Ojaswwee Sharma said, “Chandigarh Spinal Rehab has become a symbol of courage and recovery for those who have faced life-changing injuries. It is a place where hope is rebuilt and lives are reclaimed. This appeal is not just about raising funds — it’s about joining hands to expand a movement of compassion, dignity, and human resilience.”
Known for using his art to champion social causes, Mr. Sharma’s appeal resonates as a reminder of shared humanity and collective responsibility. The campaign film, produced by Pinaka Mediaworks and Rolling Frames Entertainment, captures this spirit and invites people to contribute meaningfully — through donations, partnerships, or volunteer support.
Expanding the Vision
With a growing demand for quality neuro-rehabilitation, the Centre now aims to expand its facilities to accommodate more patients, enhance accessibility, and integrate new technologies and community-based programmes.
Nicky P. Kaur, Founder & CEO of Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support the Centre has received over the years:
“Each person we help represents a story of courage and renewal. Our vision is to ensure that no individual facing paralysis is left behind due to lack of resources. With collective support, we can make rehabilitation a right — not a privilege.”
The campaign aims to make participation simple and inclusive, allowing individuals, corporates, and institutions to contribute in ways that suit them best.
